Make Art Every Day!

The information below is for information purposes only.
Please email delawarefunaday@gmail.com if you have questions.

> Fill out THIS FORM and include it with your art at Drop Off.

What are the size restrictions and how should I prepare for the show?

2D Work must be no bigger than 4x4 or 4x6 per piece. Think Small! All work needs to be submitted ready to hang, with hanging materials.

NEW THIS YEAR! ALL pieces must be mounted to ONE board/backer (poster board, cork board, canvas, etc, of some kind). Your piece will either be hung on a wall (with painters tape or putty), on an easel (limited number reserved for heavy displays), or on a table (flat or propped against the wall behind it). Please refer to photos of past exhibitions. If work is framed or mounted the frame and/ or mount must not exceed our size restrictions [i.e. if each piece is framed, the frame of each piece may not exceed 4"x4" or 4"x6". If all pieces are mounted onto one display piece, the entire display piece cannot exceed 24" x 30" / 30” x 24” size restrictions. In other words, please do not put “padding/extra spacing” in between the pieces of art when mounting unless you have taken that into account beforehand.

Title cards (with the artist’s name, piece title, and a social link) will be provided by DEFAD using the registration information provided.

Display preferences (wall, table, easel) should be included on the PICK UP / DROP OFF FORM (or discussed with the Fun-A-Day organizers in advance, if there are questions). Please note that due to space limitations we do our best to display as asked, but may not be able to accommodate preferences. Artists are encouraged to come hang their own artwork if there are particular concerns / preferences. 3D work should be small and fit on a  2'x2' table space. 3D and A/V projects are welcome but the maker (the person registering the project) should be in communication with DEFAD regarding how they intend to set-up / display their project.

Writers, musicians, any maker, is allowed to sign-up to participate in DEFAD - we can, and have, found many unique ways to showcase projects including having live performances, read-aloud sessions, extra TVs brought in, etc. Just ask!

Regarding Digital Media, Written Works, Musical Works, and Performances…

Digital media, written works, musical works, and performances ARE welcome and encouraged! For digital artists we have electric outlets to hook into and can display your work digitally via projector or TV monitor. For written works such as poems or passages, you can print them and mount them together or put them in a book of some kind for display. Poets - want to read your works aloud for attendees? Reach out to us, we can possibly setup a space for you to do a live reading. Musicians, if you would like to perform your pieces please coordinate with us a time to play. Performers! There is a central mic area and there are safe spaces in which you can perform for other attendees, we would just need to coordinate a showtime for you prior to the show to ensure your safety and those around you.

A note about Selling Artwork during the Opening Reception…

DEFAD does not facilitate artwork sales. YOU, as the artist may sell your way at any time during the show, we just ask that you please try to leave your display intact until the show is over. DEFAD organizers will not be able to provide cash change or digital assistance with any sales. Please come prepared should you wish to sell your work. The title card we put with your artwork will have a space for whatever contact information you provide on the Registration Form below. We recommend including a cell phone number so an interested buyer can text you a photo and you can make arrangements to sell the work.

SELLING YOUR WORK:

  • You may sell your artwork during the Opening Reception and the next day. DEFAD organizers will not be able to provide cash change or digital assistance with any sales. Please come prepared should you wish to sell your work.

  • If you want to sell your work you must hang your own work and put a small price label by each piece.

  • You handle your own money and sales. Sold pieces must be marked with a small circular sticker upon their sale.

We will be hanging with different methods (magnets, painters tape, and thumbtacks around or in back of the art, as to not damage it). Again, we strongly encourage you to mount your pieces to a single hanging apparatus prior to drop-off. Digital artwork can be displayed with prior arrangement/communication beforehand.
